Description
Description
This charming handmade ceramic figure—crafted over 4,000 years ago—depicts an animal, likely a pack animal such as a donkey or ram, with two baskets or containers mounted on its back. Made by the Hittites, a powerful ancient Anatolian civilization, the figure features striking details: expressive eyes, flared ears or horns, and a collar adorned with decorative impressions. The two raised side protrusions represent baskets, suggesting it may have symbolized trade, agriculture, or daily labor in the Hittite world.
Its stylized features and well-preserved form reflect the artistic and symbolic traditions of the Early Bronze Age in the region of modern-day Turkey.
