Description

Description

This cast bronze axe head dates to the early Israelite Kingdom period, around 1200–1000 BC, traditionally associated with the era of King David. The weapon features a cylindrical socketed shaft, a tapered horizontal spike at the rear, and a vertical axe blade at the front, a functional and versatile form used for both combat and utility.

Such axe heads reflect the military and agrarian realities of early Iron Age Israel, when bronze weapons continued to circulate alongside emerging iron technology. The form allowed for secure hafting and effective use in close combat or as a working tool.

Reportedly found in the Judaean Hills of the Holy Land, this piece represents the material culture of early Israelite society during a formative period of statehood, warfare, and territorial consolidation.

The surface displays a stable, ancient patina consistent with long burial, preserving the weapon’s authentic character.
