Description
Description
This authentic bronze javelin head originates from the ancient Levant during the Late Bronze Age to Early Iron Age. The weapon features a narrow leaf-shaped blade with a reinforced central ridge and a long tang, designed to be inserted into a wooden shaft to form a light spear or throwing javelin.
A small perforation near the base of the blade likely served as a securing point, allowing the weapon to be fastened firmly to the wooden shaft using a pin or binding. Over centuries underground, the bronze surface developed a natural green and brown patina typical of ancient copper alloy artifacts.
Weapons of this type were widely used by warriors and hunters of the Canaanite and early Phoenician cultures, reflecting the military technology of the eastern Mediterranean during the final centuries of the Bronze Age.

Period and Time
Period and Time
The Late Bronze Age and Early Iron Age (approximately 1200–900 BC) marked a significant transition in the ancient Near East. During this time, the Levant was home to powerful Canaanite city-states and emerging Phoenician coastal cultures that controlled key trade routes between Egypt, Mesopotamia, and the Mediterranean world. Spears and javelins were among the most common weapons used by soldiers and hunters, making bronze spearheads like this essential tools of warfare and survival.
Material
Material
This weapon is made from bronze, a copper-based alloy commonly used in the ancient world before iron became dominant. Ancient metalworkers produced such weapons by casting molten bronze into molds and then hammering and sharpening the blade to create a strong penetrating edge. The long tang allowed the head to be inserted into a wooden shaft and secured with bindings or pins, creating a durable and effective throwing weapon.
